Shinde’s govt had pursued Vedanta deal till September 5

The Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government was actively pursuing the Rs 1.5 lakh crore Vedanta-Foxconn semiconductor project right up until September 5 even as the deal had slipped out of its hands. Documents show that MIDC CEO P Anabalagan had written to Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal on that date, seeking time for an MoU signing ceremony. Just eight days later, on September 13, Agarwal announced that the plant would come up in Gujarat.
